plusSandstone and plusTumbled Hearths and Surrounds
Plaster is an inert material which meets ASTM E84 Class A fire rating standards for flame spread and smoke development. Therefore, all of our Mantels are non-combustible and can be placed directly onto the face of either a manufactured or masonry fireplace. Models with straight legs (some models have flared legs) allow you the option to use a surround, but it is not required. Plaster Mantels have a beautiful smooth finish that will readily accept either latex or oil based paints and are ideal for faux finishing. With most of our models the legs can be cut if needed to fit your fireplace. Your Plaster Mantel may have imperfections, i.e. a slight dip in the shelf, however we believe this enhances the “Old World” charm. Since each Plaster Mantel is Hand Made, no two Mantels are exactly the same. All mantels are available in Plaster, plusSandStone, or plusTumbled(shown). The plusSandStone and plusTumbled Mantels are a special blend of plaster, sand, and pigment to create the beauty of sculpted stone. They need no additional finish, however, they will accept paint. If any of our plaster mantels are painted, a good primer should be used before the finish coat. | .jpg)
